Record Stores - Long Island, NY - Laffey Real Estate

With renewed interest in vinyl continuing to grow, record albums have gone from nostalgic mementos to trendy must-haves. Our real estate agents will be observing National Record Store Day on Saturday, April 15 with a trip to these classic record stores on Long Island.

  • Stray Vintage - 4809 Skillman Ave., Sunnyside, NY 11104
When you walk through the door at Stray Vintage, not far from Sunnyside homes for sale, chances are you'll hear tunes playing from one of their eclectic collection of vinyl LPs. Dan Glasser, owner of the shop with his wife Tara, is known for his encyclopedic knowledge of music. Stray Vintage also features an ever-changing selection of secondhand furniture and home decor items, along with works from local artists. The retro record players they have almost qualify as works of art themselves. Hours are noon - 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon - 7 p.m. Saturday, and noon - 6 p.m. Sunday.

  • Mr. Cheapo CD & Record Exchange - 134 Jericho Turnpike, Mineola, NY 11501
For more than 40 years, Mr. Cheapo CD & Record Exchange has been providing the sound of music around Mineola homes for sale. The shop's amusing name comes from the nickname affectionately bestowed on owner Stu by his wife. With thousands of vinyl records, CDs, and DVDs on hand, Mr. Cheapo earned the highest rating of Long Island used record stores from the Long Island Press. Clear out the old and make room for the new by bringing in your used media to exchange for cash or store credit. Mr. Cheapo is open 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily except Sunday when closing time is 6 p.m.

  • High Fidelity Records & CDs - 141 Merrick Rd., Amityville, NY 11701
It's probably not a coincidence that High Fidelity Records & CDs shares a name with a cult classic movie about a quirky record shop and its endearing staff. After serving the community near Amityville homes for sale since 2005, High Fidelity outgrew their old building and recently moved into a spot with double the space. Customers come back over and over, lured by the ever-present possibility of finding hidden treasures in the stacks or on the shelves. Hours are 10:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Friday, 10:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday.

  • Record Reserve - 680 E. Jericho Trnpk., Huntington Station, NY 11746
Do you love to spend downtime with a good book and some good music to go with it? Then Record Reserve, right down the street from Huntington Station homes for sale, is the place for you. Owner Tim Clair gets high marks from customers for maintaining a shop with a quiet, relaxed ambiance without a lot of flash. While you're there, check out the used book selection. Record Reserve is open noon - 5 p.m. Monday; 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; and 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday.

  • Sunday Records - 125 Roanoke Ave., Riverhead, NY 11901
Sunday Records may be the only business that includes its schedule in its name. Yes, the shop is open only one day a week, but it's worth the trip. Owner Brian Volkman got his musical education by listening to local radio stations, so all the records are sorted by genre with a sign indicating the call letters of the stations where you would hear those tunes. Hours are 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Whether you're buying or selling a home on Long Island, our experienced guidance will be music to your ears. Contact us to learn more.
